Coached..Compared to the Great Duncan Fletcher, I am a relative newcomer to Coaching cricket. Although I played at School, a long time ago, and I am still playing today.
In the Summer of 2005 - before the famous Ashes Win at the Brit Oval - I decided to get qualified in Coaching Cricket. So I booked an ECB Level 1 Course with Surrey County Cricket.
Qualified
.. I qualified, in
January 2006 achieving my Level 1, the new ECB/ UKCC Level 1 and towards
the end of 2006 attended my Level 2 and passed the assessment in March
2007. Check Out My CV for further
information
Coach Development Workshops (CDW)
I have now attended all six of the Coach Development Workshops:-
CDW 1 - Developing Batters
CDW 2 - Using Video when working with Batters
CDW 3 - Working with Bowlers and Using Video cameras
CDW 4 - Working in the Nets
CDW 5 - Working with Wicket Keepers and Fielders
CDW 6 - Coaching a Team
These six workshops added up to 18 hours of awesome time in focusing the mind and body on Coaching Cricket in all of the above disciplines of Cricket. The knowledge gained from both the tutors and fellow coaches was invaluable, not forgetting a lot of mouth watering drills to use on all my future coaching appointments. These Coach Development Workshops are a pre-requisite for the UKCC 3.
UKCC Level 3
Yes looking to achieve my UKCC Level 3 as soon as
possible, sponsors permitting. Would be great to attend while
the winter is still with us through to the spring of next year, and
then be assessed at one or several of the clubs I coach at.
In reality the cost of the UKCC 3 Course does mean that I would wish to gain a sponsor or sponsors to cover the costs so I will use 2008 to consolidate and gain more valuable experience in Coaching Cricket.
On the Mark for Tadworth CC
I am also driving forward Club Mark for
Tadworth Cricket Club
with the aim for achieving by July 2008 - should keep me busy?
School Liaison
I have also been liaising with Aberdour School -
local to Tadworth Cricket Club, to build relations between and of
course to encourage all to play and enjoy their cricket.
My Academy at Aberdour School is due to start 26 January 2008 for 8 weeks up to the weekend before Easter. A first for myself and I am looking to do something similar with a local school(s) to where I live - Horley. Oakwood School have a Sports hall which also includes two Cricket nets, and I would also be looking to build relations between Horley Cricket Club and Oakwood School.
If these become infamous and synonymous with all Cricketers of All Ages in the region and therefore become annual - I will be very pleased
After School Cricket Clubs
After School Cricket Clubs is another thought,
and again schools in my local area. Mon-Friday that could be five
after school cricket clubs - watch this space. (if the "day" job
allows:-)
