Horley's Leisure Centre - New

All media / editorial mentions that it is a great new facility - I agree.

However when they mention multiuse Sports Hall - yes? no Cricket Provision

Horley Cricket Club attends Reigate School and Oriel High Schools Crawley and I attend sports halls also outside HORLEY e.g. Ewell Castle Ewell, Hazelwood School Hurst Green Oxted, Hawthorns School Bletchingley, St Bedes Redhill

Horley's Yattendon School recently attended the Swimming Pool Filling (takes 3 days) and I wandered past (30 Nov 2011 above pciture).

All looks great - but there is still no Cricket provision in the 4 court sports hall. Continous communications between myself and the Reigate And Banstead Councils Project Manager for Leisure Facilities did not resolve citing excuses in my opinion. Consequently this great new facility currently has no provision for Cricket. Cricket provision would offer another revenue stream which would not of been in the building specifications budget. In my view short sighted.

Will the council spend on refurbushment / renewal of the Cricket nets at Oakwood Sports Centre - no.

I thought a new facility in Horley deserves some provision for Cricket, if only so that we don't have to go further afield e.g. Oriel High School Crawley, St Bedes Redhill.

Cricket is not a minority sport. Listen and watch Paul Taylor's "Another Good Year" 2011 season. Paul Taylor is Director of Cricket Development at Surrey Cricket.

It all starts with the right local facilities which will augment my Cricket Delivery.
