Paul's Profile 2007 for
Mynthurst Cricket Club
requested by Mynthurst Cricket Club for their 2007 Year Book - this
is the complete version.
Paul Griffiths
Lived
in Horley for the majority of my life and went to
Played a lot
of Cricket, at school and for the Monotype Sports and Social Club
(remember – would like to see the match scorebooks for these
matches). Currently I play cricket for Tadworth CC (long story)
since the early nineties. They play in The Surrey Downs League (www.surreydowns.org).
I would like
to think I am an all rounder, but some might say a Bowler who can
bat. Never a “paid” cricketer, but always a professional in my
approach to the beautiful game.
Played for
Farmhouse Pub the last 3 years for their Charity Six a Side Team v
the Bull – fingers crossed for a 2007 event.
Would love
to visit all the schools in the area and introduce Cricket to every
single school pupil. However the budget available to the schools and
the budget I would need to give up the day job, means it is a
balance – like life perhaps.
Would love
to own a purpose built sports hall / centre with the emphasis on
Cricket in this part of
My “day job”
is in Information Technology (IT) and specialising in Infrastructure
Support for messaging – that’s email ok. I have worked for
Microsoft, Legal & General, and SERCO with contracts at Exxonmobil
(ESSO), London Underground, National Air Traffic Services (NATS). I
am currently contracting with Fujitsu Defence and working on the MOD
Account.
I am married
to Sarah who some have already met, and we have two children Llwyd
(7) and Megan (4) - yes Welsh names.
2006 -
January became a Qualified ECB
Coach Level 1 and by the time you read this I will be Level 2
qualified – achieved in around 14 months.
I have
coached many – young and old at Horley CC, Tadworth CC, Sutton CC,
Nutfield CC and Mynthurst CC.
Won the
Charity 6 a Side Cricket Match playing for The Farmhouse Pub all in
aid of CHASE.
And for the
record on the 6th September 2006 I played for a Surrey
Downs League Representative team at The Brit Oval – while there I
took two wickets, two catches and a run out.
I am also
the Tadworth “Single Wicket” Champion for 2006.
Winter
coaching included Dorking CC, and this summer includes Nutfield CC
(Tuesday), Horley CC (Thursday), Tadworth CC (Friday), and of course
Sunday @ The Mynthurst Cricket Club
Charity
My Nominated Charities are
The British Heart Foundation, signified by the red wrist band I
always wear, and CHASE.
My thanks to
Mynthurst Cricket Club that’s you – and don’t forget to enjoy your
Cricket.
