NOTE TO EDITORS:

EMBARGO RELEASE UNTIL

Surridge Sport synononous in Surrey since 1867 and more recently the world.

Stuart Surridge came to exist in 1867 when Stuart Surridge's grandfather started out by mending old cricket bats and selling them in his local area. As the years went on he started making his own cricket bats from willow trees from his own back garden*. As the company grew it passed onto his son and then to his grandson. Stuart Surridge became Captain of Surrey in the 1950's and was the most successful Surrey captain to date, although I think Adam Hollioake may agree although in modern times Adam captained Surrey to great success.

Recently (March 2009) Surridge Sport in global partnership with Fusion Sports. The deal, will see the International cricket team favourite, the 'Fusion Skyer' renamed the 'SS Skyer' and a wider range of innovative and unrivalled products will be introduced to the market over the next two years. The 'SS Skyer' will continue to be available through stockists at £150.00 and a brand new product called the 'SS Skyer Boom Bat' will be added to the portfolio with immediate effect, allowing an amateur or younger audience a more affordable access point of just £40.00.

*Back garden - I wonder was this the time when Stuart Surridge was living (1952-1956) in HORLEY Surrey (my home town) where there was some willow trees grown by Stuart with specific purpose of making into Cricket bats - A row of willow trees was grown alongside the lane next to the Farmhouse Pub to the west of the farm. These were used to make cricket bats that were named after Stuart Surridge, the well known Surrey and England cricketer who lived in nearby Great Lake Farm from 1952 to 1956. I am not sure about this as Willow for Cricket bats is best grown next to an unlimited supply of water - e.g. a stream or river!!

And did you know?
Surridge also entered into the world of football and were the first to develop a football with no laces - you didn't know that - so next time you play football remember it has no laces!!

Surridge Sport part of the SDLGroup Ltd.
