Head Coach - ECB UK Coaching Certificate Level 3 (L3CCCR)

Chinthurst School Tadworth

Paul is ecstatic about achieving Level 3 - Head Coach

and considering last quarter 2009 when Paul attended all 3 Modules at Derbyshire CCC (1 & 2) and Lancashire CCC (Old Trafford).

The Level 3 programme has made me think long and hard about my experiences and knowledge. The programme has allowed me to consider the player or players at all times, and to respect them by listening to their feedback.

In short it is their session!!

PHILOSPHY

My philosophy has always been one of enjoyment and fun for both the player, but also myself the coach. I believe this is the best incentive to learn and therefore to understand, enjoy and improve as a person and the skills needed to perform your chosen sport - technical, tactical, mental, physical and lifestyle.

Paul is now looking for a permanent venue where he would be able to offer Academy style coaching - 1-1 or group coaching.

28 March 2011
Monday 28 March 2011 - Paul achieved Head Coach - ECB Level 3 Certificate in Coaching Cricket (L3CCCR) at Chinthurst School Tadworth Street TADWORTH Surrey. The clocks had gone forward the previous morning so was able to use the nets outside for the first time

Yes it was my second assessment in just three weeks (7 March). This time I was a better coach and a better coach of Cricket and importanelty at the  higher level - Level 3.

My thanks to:

  • Tadworth Cricket Club's - The Robinsons (Annika, Mark, Matthew and Nick)
  • Gareth Wallis
  • Ian Thorpe
  • Jon Albert
  • Chinthurst School TADWORTH
  • St Bedes School REDHILL
  • Jamie Goldstein
  • Simon Hards - Surrey Cricket
  • Merv Jones - ECB

7 March 2011
Final Assessment Scheduled 6pm on this day. Nearly achieved a pass first time but my Assessor (Merv Jones) felt that I could improve on two main areas - my open questions to allow the player to lead the session more or rather to do most of the talking and Merv also felt that the session needed to have even more of a challenge for the player.

29 January 2011
I received confirmation from the ECB,  that I have now passed all three of the Video Analysis tasks - Batting, Bowling Spin and Bowling Pace (Task 4)

Final Assessment (Task 11 of 11) is all that remains and it is scheduled for FEB/MAR 2011

16 December 2010
My Duplicate Logbook has been assessed and is now back from the ECB Coaches Association Support Centre at EDGBASTON Birmingham. All assessed and great news:

4 December 2010
Assessor Feedback: "Many thanks for the opportunity to review your logbook, it has been a pleasure to watch your journey through  the level 3 programme. Well done and good luck" Bobby Flack

18 November 2010
My Duplicate copy Level 3 Logbook is now with the ECB and has been sent to an Assessor for marking. Initial feedback from the ECB Coaches Association Support Centre was "very nicely presented" !!

Duplicate copy is in a RED 100 page display book and I will be looking for this to be returned as it took lots of time and effort in correlating and putting together in a format that they will easily use, and will be appreciated.

All sessions completed (min of 8) with my two players, that's 16 sessions!! Paperwork (Level 3 Logbook)  being consolidated. With a duplicate copy ready to send off to the ECB at EDGBASTON Birmingham - November 2010 - the week after bonfire night - I hope. It was sent off mid November and returned on the 18 November 2010.

PLAYER 2 - Gareth Walliss:

A not so typical all rounder who enjoys the outdoors through out the UK, Europe and the World I think.

Enjoys his cricket and is looking to improve his general all round fitness (aerobic and strength) to reduce injury to nil if he can. Looking to improve his perceived strength in-balance between his left and right hand (too much bottom hand?)

Gareth's Pitch Map

Cricket - Looking to improve correction, looking to achieve greater bowling accuracy (and control) and to have a more rhythmical bowling action that is economical and repeatable every time. Would like to eradicate wides from the scorebook.

Confidence with the bat has been proved with a maiden 50 in 2009 although has a perception that his right hand is stronger than his left - This is probably true for it is his dominant hand.
